New Release Tuesday in the Realms of Sci-Fi and Fantasy

This week's selections make us ask...can we handle a truth that is "stranger, darker and more evil than anyone can imagine"? Wow - what a thriller! there's also a new release in the epic tale of the Obsidian Trilogy...and a retelling of the classic Wizard of Oz, with a Marvel(ous) twist.

Ground Zero: A Repairman Jack Novel by F. Paul Wilson (Author)

Product Description
On September 11, 2001, a man drifts in a boat off lower Manhattan as the towers burn. He removes a small box from his pocket and presses a button. As he waits for the south tower to collapse, he thinks: The vast majority will blame the collapse on the crazy Arabs who hijacked the planes and the Islamic extremists who funded them—the obvious choice. A few will notice inconsistencies and point fingers elsewhere, blaming the government or Big Oil or some other powerful but faceless entity. No one—absolutely no one—will guess the truth behind the who and why of this day.

Years later, someone does. Repairman Jack’s childhood friend, Weezy Connell (the genius girl from the Tor Teen novel, Jack: Secret Histories), has started fitting together the pieces of the puzzle and anonymously posting her conclusions on the Web. But she can’t stay anonymous forever. Someone is after her. Jack becomes involved in her troubles and in the paranoid mazes of the 9/11 Truth Movement, where conspiracy theories point in every direction.

They’re all wrong. The truth is stranger, darker, and more evil than anyone can imagine. It involves the cosmic shadow war into which Jack has been drafted. And if the plot behind it--millennia in the planning--succeeds, it will forever change life on this Earth.

The Phoenix Transformed: Book Three of the Enduring Flame by Mercedes Lackey (Author), James Mallory (Author)

Product Description
In the Enduring Flame trilogy, Mercedes Lackey and James Mallory have given readers a new view of the complex and fascinating world they originally created for the Obsidian Trilogy. Jumping one thousand years in time, Lackey and Mallory have told the compelling story of Harrier Gillain, the first Knight-Mage in a thousand years; Tiercel Rolfort, the first High Mage in hundreds of years; and Shaiara, the young leader of a desert tribe who takes both boys under her wing but has a special affection for Harrier. These three young people are their world’s main defense against the evil called up by the rogue Wild Mage, Bisochim. Bisochim’s conviction that he was restoring the balance was shattered the moment Ahairan took her first breath. Now, in The Phoenix Transformed, Bisochim joins forces with Harrier and Tiercel, and the three mages search desperately for a way to destroy Ahairan as she sends her magical forces against them and the desert nomads under their protection. With more than one twist in the telling, centering on a magic-plagued journey across a blistering desert, The Phoenix Transformed is the stunning conclusion to The Enduring Flame.

And I would be quite remiss if I did not mention one of my favorite books has been released with brand new artwork a la Marvel:
The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz HC by Eric Shanower (Author), Skottie Young (Author, Illustrator)
Product DescriptionThe premiere American fantasy adventure gets the Merry Marvel treatment! Eisner Award-winning writer/artist Eric Shanower (Age of Bronze) teams up with fan-favorite artist Skottie Young (New X-Men) to bring L. Frank Baum's beloved classic to life! I have a question about the difference between a "follower" and a "networked blog".

Is it inappropriate to ask it here?

Oh, great descriptions. More good books to drool over. The Wizard of Oz one especially. Thanks for all the new info.

Hi - sorry it has taken me so long to respond, I haven't been online - dealing with either a really bad case of allergies or a really weird version of the flu. Anyway...

Hi Kay,
They are just two different applications for following blogs you like. Google connect is a Google application for providing links of blogs you like to follow. The networked blogs is an application through Facebook. When you join through that any one the blogs you subscribe to will post a thumbnail of the title and a glimpse of any new posts. Just different ways to link you to blogs you like to follow. Hope that answers your question.

Bev - I am a HUGE Wizard of Oz fan so I definitely want to check it out. Part of me says don't mess with the classics...but who knows, this may become a clasic version as well :)
