New Release Tuesday in the Realms of Sci-Fi and Fantasy

This week's suggestions range from the Conan tales of 1981 revitalized, a tale of romatic fantasy, and one that answers the question Does the world need the Concern? Hope you find something to your liking!

The Savage Sword Of Conan Volume 6 by Roy Thomas (Author), Michael Fleisher (Author), Bruce Jones (Author), Various (Author)
Product DescriptionWith writers Roy Thomas, Michael Fleisher, and Bruce Jones contributing to The Savage Sword of Conan in the early 1980s, the action-filled comics magazine continued its long, successful run exploring the lush and dangerous world of Conan's Hyboria. This volume reprints most of the black-and-white Conan tales from 1981, with the artistic talents of John Buscema, Gil Kane, Ernie Chan, Ernie Colon, Alfredo Alcala, and others adding to the uncensored excitement! The Savage Sword creative teams presented in this latest tome deliver timeless adventures featuring Robert E. Howard's beloved barbarian, and such classics as the "Temple of the Tiger," "Dwellers in the Depths," and "Moat of Blood" are reprinted here for the first time ever! Collecting selections from The Savage Sword of Conan the Barbarian issues #61 through #71, this volume also includes the frontispieces and pinups from each issue, drawn by Alex Toth, Joe Chiodo, Ernie Chan, Carl Potts, Tony de Zuniga, and others!

Dark Curse: A Carpathian Novel by Christine Feehan (Author)
Product DescriptionBorn into evil and ice, Dragonseeker Lara Calladine longs to find the source of her nightmares. The only man who can help her is Nicolas De La Cruz who, for centuries, has longed to feel the sensual love of a woman without a hunger for blood. He's found the perfect mate in Lara. But their mysterious pasts share a secret that could destroy them both.

Transition by Iain M. Banks (Author)
Product DescriptionThere is a world that hangs suspended between triumph and catastrophe, between the dismantling of the Wall and the fall of the Twin Towers, frozen in the shadow of suicide terrorism and global financial collapse. Such a world requires a firm hand and a guiding light. But does it need the Concern: an all-powerful organization with a malevolent presiding genius, pervasive influence and numberless invisible operatives in possession of extraordinary powers?Among those operatives are Temudjin Oh, of mysterious Mongolian origins, an un-killable assassin who journeys between the peaks of Nepal, a version of Victorian London and the dark palaces of Venice under snow; Adrian Cubbish, a restlessly greedy City trader; and a nameless, faceless state-sponsored torturer known only as the Philosopher, who moves between time zones with sinister ease. Then there are those who question the Concern: the bandit queen Mrs. Mulverhill, roaming the worlds recruiting rebels to her side; and Patient 8262, under sedation and feigning madness in a forgotten hospital ward, in hiding from a dirty past. There is a world that needs help; but whether it needs the Concern is a different matter.

I’m thinking my pick of these is Transition. Besides a good plot and interesting characters, what red blooded guy won’t want to be taken prisoner my a bandit queen? I mean…I’m just sayin…

Hi Galen and Karen - thank you so much for stopping by. Sorry I haven't been around - not sure if this is severe allergies or some sort of flu - no fever so I'm going with allergies - that have really kept me at bay lately.

Galen - lol, love the way you think. Transitions sounds like it'll keep you on the edge of your seat - good choice!

Karen - Dark secrets can hold a lot of intrigue, Dark Curse defintely sounds like a great selection!
