Harry Potter Dancers “Beat It” While We Countdown to Movie Time!

Tonight, just before the witching hour of midnight, I will be joining the thousands of die-hard Harry Potter fans to get the first glimpses of the long awaited film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It’s true. It has been a tradition from the first films for my son and I to join the ranks of the die hard fans to get the first glimpses of the films as they are unleashed upon a clamoring public. During the course of the phenomenon of the midnight showing, many of these die hard fans go in complete costume (complete with pointed witch and wizarding hats – to having owls perched on their shoulders for emergency messages that may need to be carried out of the theatre to express their delight with the film to those not fortunate enough (AKA those with enough sense to sleep at night) to attend. This film is one of the longest, at 153 minutes. Even at this, there will be much that will have ended up on the editing floor as the book itself weighs in at 652 pages. This particular film, you may recall, was originally set to be released last fall. Warner Brothers decided to wait in anticipation of higher summer revenues. Whether this ploy will pay off at the box office will reveal itself by week’s end.

To entertain you on your visit to the blog, I have discovered a video of “Hogwart’s Dancers”. This is modern dance tribute from students in California to the boy wizard…and even a brief nod to the late Michael Jackson. Enjoy.

I have yet to see any of the films except the first one. Let me know if there are any wormholes in it.

My problem: I don't like to see childhood actors grow up to keep playing the same role. I'll wait for the reviews for this one.

Sheesh. How old am I???? Watching those kids hop around wore me out. I don't so much standup from the chair, as I sorta unfold. If I'm lucky, I'm vertical about 20 steps later.

Which is to say, I'm more than likely to be asleep by about three hours when midnight rolls around. Have fun at the show!

Best regards, Galen

Hi Stephen and Karen!

Stephen - don't know of any wormholes, only Wormtails. What can I say? It was originally a 7 part series (now 8 with Deathly Hallows being split into two movies) and muggle time marches on a LOT faster than movie time, lol.

Karen - yeah. This has become a tradition that has grown. I got to see the premeiere at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood for the second film - WAY cool!!!

What a fun dance routine.

I'll definitely be going to see the movie. Not tonight. But definitely going. Haven't missed one yet.

Can't wait to see the movie, but definitely won't be going tonight. I'm more the "second week, weekday, first showing" type. Hope you have a great time.

Hi Helen and Patricia! I think this one is definitely going to do well at the box office. Seems like a lot of people are planning on seeing this one. From what I've heard on the early reviews it sounds like this is the best one yet and David Yates made the announcement today that audiences haven't seen anything yet - they are 5 months into filming the last book which will be split into two films.
